The Art Troupe of HNU to the USA Made a Successful Debut

 

     On the evening of September 18th in the US, the tour,sponsored by Confucius Institute Headquarters(Hanban) and organized by Hunan Normal University(HNU),debuted in the small theater of Western Michigan University. Present were vice dean of studies Jody Brylinsky, honorary director of the institute Carla Koretsky, dean of the Institute of Education and Humanities Li Ming, dean of the Graduate School Susan Stapleton, principal of the International Center for Asian Affairs Zeng Ying, Chinese dean of the Confucius Institute Yu Haitao.

     The performance enjoyed a warm atmosphere with a constant climax, which gained a good reputation among teachers and students in this university and fans of Chinese culture in the surrounding communities. Besides, leaders from both Western Michigan University and Confucius Institute also spoke highly of the performance and extended heartfelt gratitude for the art troupe coming from afar.

     The crew of the theater said excitedly that it was the first time that they had access to such delicate Chinese artistic performances and they were looking forward to more exhibitions of Chinese culture in the future.

     The whole tour will last for 14 days and shows will be given in 8 universities in Michigan, Ohio, Tennessee and Utah. Taking harmony as its core, the tour aims to spread traditional Chinese culture by presenting the traditions and customs of Hunan, showing others charm of our nation and introducing concepts like “harmony and benevolence”、“oneness of man and nature” to American people. These shall contribute to Americans’ deeper and more direct understanding of China and their affection for the country.
