3 SCUT professors selected as innovative talent leaders

Recently, the Ministry of Science and Technology announced the list of the people who are chosen to join the innovation talents promotion project in 2013. 3 professors of SCUT were selected as young and middle-aged innovative talent leaders in science and technology. They were Prof. WU Bo, School of Civil and Transportation Engineering, Prof. ZHANG Qinyuan, School of Materials Science and Engineering, and Prof. WANG Cong, School of Automation Science and Engineering. Meanwhile, SCUT was selected as the demonstration base for cultivating high quality innovative talents.
 
The Innovative Talents Promotion Plan was initiated in 2011 according to the Long-term Talent Development Plan (2010-2020), which includes the establishment of scientists workshops, the cultivation of young and middle-aged innovative talent leaders in of science and technology, support for the entrepreneurship talents with technological innovation, construction of the innovation teams in the key fields, establishment of the demonstration base for cultivating high quality innovative talents. This plan is carried out by the ministry of science and technology and other relevant departments under the guidance of the Central Coordination Group.
 
Among them, the plan of Young and Middle-aged Innovative Talent Leaders of Science and Technology aims at the forefront of science and technology and emerging strategic industries in the world, focuses on training and supporting 3,000 young and middle-aged scientific and technological innovation talents to make them into the leaders to direct the development of the related areas and innovation of science and technology. 4 people from SCUT, including HUANG Fei have been elected to join this talent plan since 2012. By the plan "Innovative Talents Training Demonstration Base”, which is based on colleges and universities, research institutes and science and Technology Park, 300 demonstration bases were constructed. 38 demonstration bases of cultivating high quality innovative talents were selected in 2013.
