Blossoming peonies on display for Shanghai Botanical Garden
Five hundred pots of blossoming peonies were on display for the opening of the refurbished Shanghai Botanical Garden. The garden was reopened to the public on Monday, after a three-month reconstruction project.

Visitors were surprised to see the blossoming peonies in the greenhouse, at this time of year. The normal flowering period is in April and May. But after some in-depth studies and experiments, experts have now learnt to control the timing exactly.
20-thousand pots of peony roses will blossom throughout the six-month-long Shanghai World Expo, to welcome visitors from home and abroad.
