About HNU

Hebei Normal University is seated in Shijiazhuang City, capital of Hebei Province. It is in the center of North China Plain, with Beijing and Tianjin in the north, the Bohai Sea in the east, and Taihang Mountains in the west. The Beijing-Guangzhou, Shijiazhuang-Dezhou, and Shijiazhuang-Taiyuan railways make it a transportation hub. Shijiazhuang is 285 km from Beijing, or about 1 hour's ride by high-speed train.

Hebei Normal University is a pivotal university in Hebei, and it boasts a history of 110 years. The commitment is building three bridges for students and teachers with the world-known academicians, political leaders and entrepreneurs. Our motto is "Being ambitious in pursuit of truth" , and we truly welcome international students to jointly create a bright future.

Disciplines and Majors

Ten disciplines that cover literature, history, art, economics, management, law, education, science, technology, and philosophy are provided in 21 schools and an independent college (Huihua College). The university offers 100 undergraduate programs, more than 130 master programs under 26 first-class master disciplines, and over 50 doctoral programs under 8 first-class doctoral disciplines. The undergraduate students total 34,694, graduates 4,061 and adult students 16,820.

Teaching Staffs

The university has 420 professors, 960 associate professors, one CAS (Chinese Academy of Sciences) academician, 145 doctoral supervisors and 970 master supervisors.

Facilities

The school campus covers an area of 122 hectares, with a 3.365,000-volume library. The modern and comprehensive library, well-facilitated teaching buildings, advanced teaching instruments, efficient apartment buildings for international students, comprehensive student center, spacious stadium, international standard playground, efficient concert halls, diversified associations and activities, will render your learning more fruitful.

International Exchanges

By far Hebei Normal University has signed agreements of cooperation and exchanges with 67 institutions in 54 foreign countries including the United States, Canada, Peru, Russia, France, Italy, Ukraine, Belgium, Japan, Republic of Korea, Indonesia, Australia, and New Zealand. Now, the university has 300 international students. The overseas education program was initiated in 1987. The international students can apply for Chinese government scholarships and Confucius Institute scholarships.

Programs for International Students

Hebei Normal University offers language program and academic programs for international students according to their study purpose, proficiency of Chinese and different backgrounds. The language program is divided into the long term and short term, while the academic programs can be classified as bachelor, master and doctoral programs or research programs, which can be accessed in relevant schools.

Ⅰ. Language Program

1. Long-term Language Program

The program is for 1 term, with 20 weeks or so. Beginners, intermediate and advanced classes are available according to the proficiency of Chinese of the learners. The classes focus on the training of listening, speaking, reading, writing, and Chinese traditional culture.

Notes: Each term has 20 weeks. But this is subject to change due to national holidays.
Integrative Chinese includes skills of listening, speaking, reading, writing, and language teaching.
HSK training classes are offered as optional.

In addition to the language classes, we also offer free-of-charge optional classes of Chinese wushu, dance, folk songs or paper cutting, painting, and calligraphy.

2. Short-term Language Program

The duration of the program varies from 1 week to 3 months, and is intended for temporary tour groups or individuals, focusing on introduction of Chinese culture.

Class Activities

Introduction


Language and Culture	Intensive reading, speaking, picture explicating, tourism Chinese, business Chinese according to proficiency of the learners.
Activities	Learners participate in diversified cultural activities on Chinese wushu, calligraphy, painting, tea, folk dance and song.
Tourism	The university organizes tourism, sightseeing the scenic and cultural sites in Hebei, Beijing and Xi'an.
Survey	The university organizes survey in Chinese elementary and high schools, kindergartens, factories, and companies.

*Mini classes (one to two or three) are available at the request of the learners.

3. Application for the Long/Short-term Program of Chinese Literature and Culture

Time of Registration: February for the Spring Term; September for the Autumn Term for long-term; Any time for short-term

Time of Application: By May 30th for the Spring Term; By June 30th for the Autumn Term for long-term; Any time for short-term

Requirements: To be considered for admission to Hebei Normal University, international students must be healthy, have a clean record, and obey the laws of PRC as well as regulations of the university.

No documents above will be returned.

Procedure:

1. International students send the required documents (via fax or e-mail).

2. After receiving the documents, the university sends Visa Application Form for Foreigners to Study in China (Form JW202) and Admission Notice via international express.

3. International students apply for visa with Admission Notice in preparation for the overseas study.

4. Notify the university about your travel to China, and register at the university immediately after arriving in China.

The dormitory apartments for international students are divided into single-bed room, double room, two bedrooms with a sitting room, and economic double room. The single-bed room, double room are all equipped with a washing closet, shower, fridge, TV set, telephone, air conditioner, internet line, while the economic double room is equipped with a washing closet, shower, and an internet line.

The campus has canteens for students, one for international students, and one for Muslin students. Each meal costs ￥10-15.
