This year’s sports meet begun with a parade full of enthusiastic and energetic sportsmen and women raising their flags to represent their respective schools and colleges. OEC team joined the parade with their faces painted by the Discover Initiative team of the Hand in Hand Association. OEC team, trained and managed by the International Students Sports Association (ISSA) were all set to defend their title in the track and field events.
The parade was followed by a speech from President and Chairman of JSU, Mr. Yuan Shouqi. In encouraging the participants, he mentioned that he took part in mini marathon last year and that, habit of running everyday has proven to be beneficial to his health. The JSU sports authority also declared OEC as rank 2 in the overall competitions of last year's "JSU 14th Annual Sports Meet"
At the end of the Sports Meet, the OEC team topped the Track and field events with 25 Gold, 7 silver and 5 bronze medals and total points of 335.5 as compared to 280 points last year. This year’s track and field events marked some record breakings such as the first time gold medal for the two women relay teams, silver medal for the female 3000m and a bronze medal for the female 1500m race.
