Symposium for Latin American Students Was Successfully Held

On the afternoon of November 13, 2013, a symposium for Latin American students was held in the meeting room of International Student Office (ISO). Students from different Latin American countries including Argentina, Columbia, Cuba, Brazil, and Bolivia attended the meeting.

Mr. Lan Hanghang, an officer from the International Student Office delivered a comprehensive introduction about HUST. In his speech he mentioned HUST’s high rank among Chinese universities and  introduced the leading disciplines and majors in the University, the colorful campus life as well as the various scholarship policies and learning programs available for international students. Then, Mr. Yin Xinlin, the officer in charge of Chinese learning issues in the International Student Office gave a more specific introduction of the Chinese Language Programs in HUST, such as Long-term Chinese Programs for elementary, intermediate and advanced Chinese learning students and short-term programs like Chinese Summer Program and 3+3 Program for those who are interested in Chinese culture.

The Latin American students were greatly impressed by the speeches. “It was definitely a wise decision to choose HUST for my master degree study. Even though I have been here for almost three months, it seems there’re still a lot of great things left to explore,” said a student from Panama.

The symposium finally came to an end around 6 p.m. It is believed that with time, all international students living and studying in HUST will develop a deeper understanding of HUST and will grow to love this green campus. Like other countries all over the world, international students from Latin American countries are welcome to study and live in HUST. With such hospitality, the ISO firmly believes that HUST will be not only a friendly place to be in, but also a window for international students to experience the charm of Wuhan and China.
