East China University’s summer program

The East China University of Science and Technology welcomed 130 foreign students to its summer language program, at an opening ceremony on, July 14, hosted by Zhou Haibo, of the International Education College.

Teachers first arranged a placement test to decide which of the four Chinese classes to put the students in, then Zhou gave them a warm welcoming speech and explained the history of the university, its international goals, and the education overseas students can get, while noting that they look ahead to having more foreign students.

After taking a group photo, the students got a tour of the campus, led by volunteers. They will have four weeks of courses on Chinese language, martial arts, calligraphy, and paper-cutting and get some scenic tours.

The East China’s program is seeing the most participants ever this year, with some come from its partner school Queen Mary University of London, in the UK.
