MSW Students Head to China for Experience Exchange

From April 13 through April 21, five Mountain School at Winhall students along with trustee and Parent Association president, Tara Senecal, and Headmaster, Daren Houck, visited Guangzhou, Guanghan and Beijing, China, as part of the school's ongoing International Exchange Initiative.

The group's first stop will be in Guangzhou, where they will be hosted by the family of MSW's first exchange student, sixth grader Sunny Lin. While in Guangzhou, the MSW students will meet and discuss the merits of a Mountain School education with 20 prospective exchange students.

From Guangzhou, the group will travel to Guanghan to visit the Honghua Foreign Language School, MSW's first sister school in China and home to the Chinese students who participated in MSW's very successful International Middle School Camp this past summer. Students will visit classes and participate in team-building activities with their Chinese counterparts.

The tour will conclude with a four-day stay in Beijing where the MSW contingent will experience, among other things, Tian'an Men Square, the Forbidden City, Prince Gong Mansion (the largest and best preserved Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) princely mansion in Beijing), a picnic on the Great Wall and a visit to The Temple of Confucius, which dates to 1302.

The Mountain School at Winhall is an accredited Pre-K-8 independent community school in Bondville.
