Love Without Borders

As a group of three internationals and the help of our two Chinese teachers we set off on a voluntary activity which in the end enlightened us on the day to day lives of selfless older Chinese citizens who have dedicated their lives to show compassion and love to the community in which they grew up in. Waking up very early in the morning leaving the comforts of their home, the women at the Hong Ri Ting square toil in weather which sometimes can be harsh and makes it uneasy for them to accomplish their purpose. But this does not back them of as they work throughout the day at times without even any rest.

Amongst the challenges they face are shortage of supply to pull through the day and at times not enough labor to work around the place and feed the multitudes they feed in a day. Through the love of the well wishers and the support they receive from the community they support they have managed to keep on feeding more than 500 people each single day for up to more than 10 years now. It is a blissful sight to see the smile they carry when they do their work and how much happiness it brings to them as individuals as they deliver their priceless service to the hundreds of fellow age mates and even some youths who come to visit the mountain in that place.

We spent the day helping with cleaning the dishes and helped serve the food to the people who were present on that fateful Sunday it was the best pleasure and best way to show gratitude to the people who have welcomed you in to their country and treat you with at most hospitality which is a thing that i have grown to understand about Chinese people as they take really good care of the visitors who grace their presence. It was an experience which brought joy and education about the daily lives of the great Chinese community to us as individuals as well.
