Shangqiu City is located in the eastern part of Henan province at the juncture of four provinces, Henan, Shandong, Jiangsu, and Anhui. It has six countries, three districts and one city under its jurisdiction covering an area of 10,704 square kilometers with a population of 8.1 million people.
Shangqiu has a long history being one of the birthplaces of China’s culture. The city is the cradle of “Businessman, commerce, and Shang Culture”. In the year 1986, it was named China’s Historical Cultural City.
Longhai Railway, traverses the city and crosses Beijing-Kowloon Railway here; No 105 and No 301 State Highway goes past at Shangqiu City. The expressway named Lian-Huo and the 3 expressways being built Shang-Bo, Shang-He, Shang-Zhou, make Shangqiu an important hub of communications in China.
