Harbin Normal University (HRBNU) was founded in 1946, and was ranked “Excellent” in the “Evaluation of University Baccalaureate Programs Project” issued by the Ministry of Education. It is the center of teacher training on Chinese International Promotion, higher teacher education, higher education in arts, educational science and research and teacher training in Heilongjiang Province. The university covers 495.98 hectares with a total floor space of 1,599,400 squire meters. HRBNU covers wide branches of learning, also a very high quality of faculty and advanced facilities ensure a top teaching. The university has 2 mobile centers majoring in Chinese Language & Literature and Maxism Theory for post-doctoral research, 10 state-level subjects, 9 doctoral degrees, 81 master degrees and 51 bachelor subjects reaching economy, law, education, arts, history, science, engineering and management branches of learning, with the total enrollment of 40,000 students. Introduction to International Studies College
International Studies College (ISC) focuses on the education and scientific research of international students, and is the only center of teacher-training on teaching Chinese as a foreign language, as well as the only center for registration and examination of “Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language Test” in Heilongjiang Province. ISC has a teaching and research department of Chinese language and culture, which is in charge of international students’ teaching & research, and is in possession of a rich experience and a strong basis of teaching Chinese as a foreign language. At present, ISC offers an overall educational pattern to international students, which includes short-term & long-term Chinese language training program, B.A. Chinese Language & Literature program, and bachelor of other majors program, master and doctoral degrees program. Since the first international students welcomed in 1984, ISC has developed over 4500 students from over 10 countries like Korea, Japan, Russia, the United States, Canada, Argentina, Vietnam, Mongolia, and Indonesia. Now ISC reaches a number of over 600 on short-term & long-term international students. In addition, ISC owns two advanced buildings for international students exclusively with the total floor space of 18,000 squire meters, having 500 beds and 40 classrooms, which serve top-quality surroundings for students.
