Introduction

Shandong University of Technology (SDUT) is a key provincial multidisciplinary university under the direct jurisdiction of the Shandong provincial government. It was established though a merger of Shandong Institute of Technology and Zibo University. The university is located in the cradle of the ancient Qi civilization—Zibo, which is now an important modern industrial city. Zibo is located in the middle of Shandong province. It takes about one hour by car from Zibo to Mount Tai, the famous mountain in China. And it takes about three hours by car from Zibo to Qufu, the former residence of Confucius. The transportation here in Zibo is very convenient.

The university emphasizes the building of disciplines and specialties. SDUT, with the conferment right of bachelor’s and master’s degree, has 21 schools and 6 departments, subdivided into 47 specialties.

These cover such categories of learning as technology, sciences, arts, law, economics, history, pedagogy and management.The university disciplinary layout has been formed which is centering on engineering, integrating science with technology, including arts and with distinguishing features.
