University Profile
Beijing Union University is a regular comprehensive higher education institution at municipal administrative level, established in 1985 with approval of China’s Ministry of Education. It was originally from college branches of Peking University, Tsinghua University and other universities in Beijing, which came into being in 1978. As a result of China’s reform and opening up to the outside world, in keeping with the economic construction of the capital and meeting the demands of the development of society, BUU has become a key multi-disciplinary university in Beijing, which trains application-oriented personnel mainly through regular undergraduate courses. It has formed the theme of “people-oriented, application-rooted”. Its guideline in running school is “to develop application oriented education, nurture application oriented personnel and construct application oriented university”, and its orientation is “ opening to the mass, contributing to the capital, basing on application and striving for the best”.BUU currently consists of 17 colleges.
Through constant development, our university has formed such a structure as taking Xiaoying in Yayuncun as the center, with the combination of concentration and distraction as its main feature. BUU covers a constructed area of 600,000 square meters. Its libraries own a collection of 2,086,000 volumes of books. BUU owns 8 college level experimental/training bases and modern multi-media classrooms. The advanced campus web is located on the main campus, radiating to 12 university zones covering 16 colleges. There are altogether 9000 portals within the campus web.
At present it has a student enrolment of more than 29,000, of whom are 19,000 undergraduates, about 10,000 higher vocational students,and 109 postgraduates trained with other key universities.90% percent of the graduates have found their positions in Beijing.

Short-term Chinese training programs
Short-term Chinese training programs vary from 2 to 6 weeks, focusing on developing speaking skill, and the college does not stipulate students' Chinese proficiency level. The Chinese language classes are taken in the morning on weekdays, for a total of 20 hours per week. In the afternoon lectures are delivered on Chinese culture and society (Chinese Gongfu and Chinese painting etc.) and historical site visits will be arranged on weekends. For groups of 10-15 students, application begins at least 1 month in advance.

Objectives:Through one academic year (Fall and Spring Semesters, totally 36 weeks) of study,students shall reach HSK 4-5 in Chinese Proficiency Test and pass College Entrance Examination.

Through one academic year (Fall and Spring Semesters, totally 36 weeks) of study,students shall have a good command of Chinese in listening, speaking, reading and writing, and achieve the entry level of bachelor’s programs (offered in Chinese) at College of International Education BUU.

Our university has more than 20 programs for postgraduate education, 59 programs for undergraduate education in the field of economics、engineering、law、education、literature、 history、science、management、chemistry and art. The international students who pass HSK5 (new version) can directly apply for any specialty among the above-mentioned programs.
Campus Life
Beijing Union University International Student Residence is reserved for long-term and short-term international students studying at College of International Education of BUU. Two buildings are available for international students: Building C and Building D. There are 107 Standard Rooms with 208 beds. All rooms are designed and furnished at the standard of 3 or 4 star hotel. Besides, the college also provides favorable price and high-standard service to our students. All rooms are equipped with air conditioner、television、telephone and private bathroom so as to provide reasonable comfort for the occupants and facilitate tidiness.

Scholarship
Each year Beijing Municipal Government allocates approximately 3 million RMB of Beijing International Students Scholarship to BUU. Each semester more than 100 Non-degree students excellent in conduct and learning are awarded for the title.
1st Class Scholarship: 5 000 RMB
2nd Class Scholarship: 3 000 RMB
Award for Full Attendance: 500 RMB (Unlimited)
