University Profile
Northwest University has its origin in Shaanx iCollege founded in 1902, and assumed its present name in 1912. It was renamed National Northwest University in 1923, and called National Xi’an Provisional University after the merger with National Beiping University, Beiping Normal University, Beiyang College of Engineering and other institutions, which moved inland to Shaanxi when the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression broke out in 1937. The Provisional University was subsequently named National Northwest Associated University in 1938, and NationalNorthwestUniversity in 1939.
The University pays close attention to international exchange and cooperation, and has established collaborative relations with nearly 50 institutions of higher learning and research in foreign countries, and Hong Kong and Taiwan regions. The exchange and cooperation, covering various areas of study, have contributed to the rise of the University’s academic level and international renown. To its credit, Encyclopedia Britannica once listed Northwest University as one of the world-famous Chinese universities.

Applicant Qualifications
Shanxi province is abbreviated as “shan”or“qin”. An inland province along the middle reaches of the Yellow River and a gateway to northwest China, Shanxi links the west with the east and connects the north with the south. The Eurasia Continental Bridge, an international economic link starting from Lianyungang in the east and ending in Rotterdam, Netherlands, traverses through the province. The province has an area of 205,600 square kilometers. The college number in Shaanxi province also ranks on the front in China. It owns large quantities of students and the team of the teachers is very powerful.
The history culture is very deep here. And it also has many natural types of scenery. Dispersed in Shaanxi are 72 imperial mausoleums, witness to the ancient economy and culture. The province is best known for ten scenic spots including the Mausoleum of Huang Di, the Qin terra-cotta warriors and horses, the Xian Forest of Stone Tablets, the Shaanxi Museum of History, and the city gate and wall of Xian. The Qin terra-cotta warriors and horses are often called the Eighth Wonder of the World and have been included by UNESCO in the list of World Cultural Heritages.
