Jiangxi Agricultural University (JAU) located in Nanchang City, the capital city of Jiangxi Province, is a key province-run university and is one of the first universities in China to confer Bachelor and Master Degrees. JAU has a proud history that can trace back to the Agricultural School of the National Zhongzheng University established in October 1940. In 1980, the school was renamed Jiangxi Agricultural University. With a campus area of 263.3 hectares and a total area of 1066.7 hectares, the university has 16 colleges, 14 key provincial disciplines and 61 specialties for undergraduates, 60 specialties for Master degree programs, 7 master-degree specialties for the part-time students, 5 specialties for Doctoral degree programs and 1 mobile center for post-doctoral research. The university also has 1 national key-laboratory training base, 2 key laboratories of the Ministry of Agriculture, 1 key laboratory of the Ministry of Education and 5 key provincial laboratories. Well staffed with 1,500 full-time personnel working in teaching, research and administration, JAU has 105 professors, 396 associate professors and 208 doctors. This university has accepted foreign students to study agricultural technology and Chinese since 1980s. At present, nearly 26,000 full-time students have enrolled in its schools.
