Xi'an University of Posts and Telecommunications (XUPT) was founded in 1950. It is located in the southern cultural area of Xi'an city, with its original Yanta campus adjacent to the Tang Dynasty Wild Goose Pagoda and its new Chang'an campus in the Zhongnan Mountains. XUPT has now become an engineering-based university featuring information and science technology, which jointly develops with management science, economics, humanities, legal science and art. It was the only high education institute in northwest China established by the former Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications (MPT) and is now one of the universities that possess “Plan for Educating and Training Outstanding Engineers” which was given by the Ministry of Education. XUPT is the also only university in northwestern China that undertakes the training programs for Asian Pacific Telecommunications (APT) and is a People's Liberation Army (PLA) reserve offices' training school. It is also one of the universities that have been approved by the government to enroll international students to study academic courses, and it has been authorized to confer Bachelors and Masters Degrees.

During its 60 year development, XUPT has become an important base for high technology research and high technology talent training in electronic and telecommunications fields, forming multi-level education programs for undergraduate and graduate studies. The university has 40 master's programs, 42 undergraduate programs. There are more than 16,000 full time students in the university.

With a proud tradition of excellence in teaching and research, XUPT has a faculty consisting of academicians and a team of eminent professors and researchers. This has helped the university earn a great reputation throughout society. Ever since its establishment, XUPT has fostered over 60,000 high-grade graduates in all fields, most of whom work in communication enterprises, communication manufacturing enterprises, and information-related positions. Many of them have already become backbones of the business while some have reached important leadership positions.

XUPT has been actively involved with international academic exchanges and cooperation, having established cooperative relations with prestigious colleges and universities in over 30 countries in Europe, United States and Asia-pacific area. XUPT is also involved in joint research programs, cooperative training of graduates, along with other academic and scholarly exchanges. Every year the school enrolls overseas students from Asia-Pacific area, ASEAN countries, America, Germany and other countries to study specialties and Chinese. The university also offers scholarships for international students who come to study specialties in the university.

The university is located in Xi'an city one of the world's four great ancient capitals – home to the world famous Terracotta Army. The city has over 3000 years of history, and served intermittently as the capital of eleven dynasties. It has many historical remains. Chinese language and culture students:

A. Graduated from senior high school;
B. Chinese language students are separated into two kinds:
Long-term students: students who register to study more than half a year (one semester). School begins in March or September every year. After the entrance examination, students will be separated into elementary, intermediate and advanced classes.
Short-term students: students who register to study less than two months.

Students Types and Application Conditions:

Pattern of Study

International students can choose to study in classes with Chinese students taught in Chinese, and a separated class  taught in English.

★Classes with Chinese students: The taught language is Chinese; you will study together with Chinese students. The  Chinese Proficiency should accord with the relative requirements of the specialty. Natural science or management science programs applicants must pass HSK Band 3.

★ Separated Class taught in English: If students apply for the same specialty at the same term taught in English, a separated class may be offered.

We offer the Chinese language and culture training courses for all students. The class including, Chinese history, painting, paper-cutting, shadow boxing and qigong etc. meanwhile, we organize student to visit the scene spots around Xi’an, which including: Qin Shihuang Museum of Terracotta Army; Huaqing Pool etc.

Living conditions on campus

Life in the campus is very convenient with post office, mini-supermarket, barbershop, hospital land ATM. The 2 school cafeterias and dining halls provides different favored food, as Chinese food, fast food, local-featured favored food, cake product and Muslim food.

The physical education facilities are also well-equipped. There are basketball, volleyball, tennis, and football playground. In the school gym, there is badminton, table tennis, fitness center.

Live in the International Students Dormitory on campus

2 persons a room. The bedrooms are equipped with 2 mattresses, air-conditioner, TV, desks and wardrobes.
Note：Every student should pay 500 RMB for a living deposit. It will be refund after the check of your room.

the enrolled student can receive RMB2000 for the scholarship; the student who gets excellent remarks can also  receive some scholarship.
