Dezhou University is a comprehensive state university that was approved by the Ministry of Education. It lies in the northeast of Dezhou City, and has been hailed as the “entrance way” to Beijing and is the gateway to all directions. To the east, there is the Beijing-Fuzhou expressway, to the west, the Beijing-Shanghai railway and the No.104 state highway. It enjoys convenient transportation and a quiet environment. Dezhou has a long history and profound cultural background and is one of the cradles of Longshan culture which dates back more than 4,000 years.
Dezhou University occupies more than 1,313,990 ㎡with a building area of 660,000 square meters and has modern teaching facilities which cost 10681 million RMB. There are more than 1,810,000 books in the library. There are 138 different kinds of laboratories, 14 sound labs, 80 multimedia classrooms, while the biophysics laboratory is the key provincal university laboratory. The university has set up advanced TV teaching and editing systems and a TV Studio and News Centre. The University School Network Centre is one of five branches of the Shandong Education Research Computer Network. An excellent university management team and a strong cultural atmosphere provides vast space for students displaying their intelligence and growing up to be the future talents of China.
The university has more than 1700 staff, including more than 1160 teachers. Among the teachers, there are more than 70 professors, about 400 associate professors, 600 teachers with either Doctor or Master Degrees. The academic team is balanced in age and knowledge with high qualifications in teaching and scientific research. The teachers are known for their sincere dedication to their students and adhere strongly to the positive ethos of the university. They take a serious and professional attitude towards teaching and research and have made great achievements. There are 128 adjunct professors in our university, including 3 academicians, who are from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing University, Tsinghua University and other universities and academic institutions in China.
The university runs 50 undergraduate courses,with majors covering economics, law, education, literature, history, natural science, engineering, agriculture, medical and management science and has formed the academic structure of multidisciplinary infiltration and coordinated development. The number of full-time students is 18,000. From 2009, Dezhou University was identified as the joint training base for postgraduate of Shandong province and now offers a joint master’s degree for graduate students in collaboration with Shandong Normal University.
Dezhou University promotes the role of teaching as a central position within the institution and attaches great importance to teaching management and teaching quality. Furthermore, the overall running of the university is improving. The students’ pass rate for the CET-4 exam is excellent, the acceptance rate to postgraduate positions and one-time employment rate have been remaining at a higher level. This has been recognized by society and the vast majority of university examiners. In recent years, Dezhou University has undertaken 47 education reform projects at provincial and ministerial level, completed 2 feature specialties and 7 excellent courses at provincial level, and gained more than 10 teaching achievement prizes on higher education at provincial level. Since 2007, our students have gained outstanding achievements in national university students’ scientific and cultural competitions and won a total of 32 awards in first, second, and third prize plus an outstanding award. Of this, there are 5 national first prizes, with a highlight being a prize in the first national university students’ energy-saving practice and technology competition. Dezhou Univesity was the only university to gain this award among Shandong universities and colleges. Our students have also won more than 330 prizes at provincial level in national university students’ scientific and cultural competitions. Every year, a number of students are enrolled by Tsinghua University, Beijing University, Renmin University and other famous Chinese universities for their Master’s Degree. This has given great prestige to Dezhou University.

Applicant Qualifications
I.Admission Qualifications
Undergraduates
1) Applicants should have a high school diploma or a form showing high school equivalence. They should be in good physical and mental health without any criminal record.
2) They should reach at least the 3rd Level of the Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK). Undergraduate applicants will learn Chinese for one year if he/she can’t reach the level. After passing the Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK), they may apply for undergraduate courses.
Long/Short Term Chinese Language Program
Applicants must meet the health standard of undergraduates in China .
Applicants are requested to have the following materials ready
1) Application Form: the forms need to be filled in with the applicant’s latest half-length, full-faced and bareheaded photo attached.
2) Transcript or a copy of diploma either in English or Chinese.
3) Letter of guarantee by the applicant’s guardian: the guardian should write out his /her name, nationality, occupation and address (if an organization acts as the guardian, reference to the organization should be made clear.)
4) Physical Examination Record for Foreigners: the record is mailed to the applicant by Dezhou University along with the Application Form. The Applicant is requested to have a thorough physical check-up in accordance with the Physical Examination Record for Foreigners, which should be dated. with the doctor’s signature and the applicant’s photo attached to it, and officially sealed.

Notes: Students of this program are to study for 2 semesters, the fall semester (from September to the following February). They will receive certificates of completion of studies as well as academic records.
Lodging: A twin-room with an air-conditioner, a color TV, a bathroom, a public washing machine and telephone will be offered. Students may travel in China at their own expense during vacations, with the help of the Foreign Affairs Office.
Category 2: Half-year Chinese Language Program

Course Objective: To improve students’ ability to speak and listen, and learn Chinese grammar.
Sightseeing:
Notes: Students can apply at any time at the Foreign Affairs Office. The curriculum may be adjusted to students needs. Students may travel at their own expense, with the help of the Foreign Affairs Office.
