A Glance at Mount.Lu

One style of Mount. Lu beauty

Located in Boyang Lake Basin in north Jiangxi Province of China, in the south of Jiujiang City,  Mount Lu is one of the top ten famous mountains in China. The oval-shaped mountain is about 25 kilometers long and 10 kilometers wide, with 90-plus stretching peaks serving as a protective shield for the north gate of Jiangxi.

Mount Lu is best known for its grandeur, grotesqueness and steepness. It's long been honored as a mountain with the most remarkable and elegant scenery in the world. Famous attractions like the cool-weather Hanyang Peak, the pavilion overlooking the Yangtze River, Hanbo Pass with a good lake-side sun view, Five-Old man Peak that looks like five elderly men standing side by side and the cascading Three-Fold Spring Falls have been attracting countless tourists throughout the ages.

The Painting of Mount Lu created by the noted painter Gu Kaizhi of the eastern Jin Dynasty became the first landscape painting as a genre in its own right in Chinese painting history. Using Kangwang Valley of Mount Lu as a cultural background, the great poet Tao Yuanming of the eastern Jin Dynasty created the story of Peach Blossom Shangri-la, brimming over with Utopia-style idealism; and the great poet Bai Juyi of the Tang Dynasty wrote a poem entitled "Peach blossoms In The Temple Of Great Forest" and the place of "flower path", named after the words taken from the poem became a well-known scenic spot.

Mount Lu is also a center of religions, where Buddhist and Taoist temples, Islamic mosques and Christian and Catholic churches etc can all be found. Chinese men of letters throughout the ages have left more than 4,000 poems in praise of Mount Lu. The most well known lines of "I can't tell the real appearance of Mount Lu, because I myself is in the mountain." by Su Shi are among the most popular poems of all time. In 1998, Mount Lu was included in the world heritage list.
