The rich historical heritages in the city attract many visitors and give them an understanding of great changes brought by time.
After liberation, Wuhan soon became one of the most important industrial bases in the county. The development has been amazingly quick since the reform and door opening, especially during the last ten years. Driving into the town form the modern airport or the railway station through highways, you will see row upon row of newly built buildings, broad streets with green lawns, prosperous business districts and people walking at a quick pace. Development and construction sites can also be seen everywhere.
The number of the universities in Wuhan is surpassed only by Beijing and Shanghai . There are many scientific research institutes whose academic fields are quite broad.
