Liaocheng University (LU) is located in Liaocheng City – a famous historical and cultural city also well-known as the “Water City North of the Yangtze River”, situated in the west of Shandong Province and the Grand Beijing-Hangzhou Canal runs through it.It is only about one hour drive away from Jinan Airport and three hours by train to Beijing.

LU is a comprehensive university under the direct supervision of the provincial government.Founded in 1974 with its original name Liaocheng Branch of Shandong Teachers'College, it was renamed as Lioacheng Teachers'College in 1981 under the ratification of the State Council.In 2002, due to its fast development its name was changed again to Liaocheng University under the official authorization of the State Ministry of Education.LU consists of two campuses, occupying a total of 200 hectares covering a building area of 1.2 million square meters.LU possesses a total value of teaching equipment equivalent to RMB 160 million and a collection of over 3 million books in two main libraries.

LU offers a comprehensive category of disciplines, given the authorization to award both bachelors and masters degree.It also has the qualification to conduct adult education for personnel with an official copy of a student's educational record to apply for a master's degree or for MA in Education with its corresponding specialization.Now, LU has 25 colleges, 3 departments of general teaching professions, 10 distinctive research institutes, 6 provincial level key courses with laboratories, and 1 provincial level social science research, 45 education courses leading to master's degree and 62 undergraduate specializations.LU takes pleasure in the excellence of its teaching and research force of 1,700 academic professionals to educate, train and discipline 28,000 full-time students.

LU engages positively in international communications and cooperation devoting serious attempts to the development of education to overseas student resulting in steady increase in its level of international influence.It has so far established friendly relations with more than 100 high educational institutions in over 40 countries and regions such as the USA, Japan, Canada, Russia, Australia and South Korea.

LU is one of the earliest universities granted admissions for overseas students sanctioned by Shandong Provincial Government.Recently, the School of International Education has more than 100 overseas students of both short- term and long-term enrollees every year.The School of International Education takes charge of the enrollment, education and administration of overseas students.
