Beijing National Day School was founded in 1952, originally as the school for children of the cadres of Central Military Commission. Marshall Nie Rongzhen named the school after the National Day of the People's Republic of China. Since then, BNDS has established itself as a modern model school that enjoys widespread acclaim and splendid cultural richness.

The school covers an area of 156,000 sq meters, one of the biggest campuses in Beijing. Around 4000 students from Grade 7 to Grade 12 are enrolled in this school right now. This diverse population also includes students from the US, Turkey, Serbia, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Singapore and Indonesia, etc.

The teachers of BNDS enjoy the reputation as a team of dedicated, versatile educators with a high level of professionalism as well as excellent research skills. The school now employs more than 400 teaching and non-teaching staff, including 27 Teachers with Great Distinction, 44 teachers with a PhD degree, 167 teachers with a Master degree and more than 60 foreign teachers.

BNDS has built up a multi-level course system that is based on the need for personalized development of the students and the features of different subjects, and also set up some 200 different optional courses, including Horsemanship, Skiing, Fencing, Costume Design, Auto Design, Cartoon Production, ADs Creation, Economics and Foreign Languages, etc. The International Department also imports A-Level, AP and IB curriculums with the intention to introduce those high-quality educational resources into our own curriculum and to provide more options for our students. Foreign students can also study in certain courses upon approval of the school.

In recent years, hundreds of BNDS graduates have been admitted into top universities not just in China, but also around the world, such like Peking University, Tsinghua University, Hong Kong University, Princeton University and Cambridge University, etc. Our university application result has been continuously ranked as one of the best in Beijing.
