Introduction to SCUT

South China University of Technology (SCUT) is one of China's leading universities operating under the direct leadership of the State Ministry of Education. SCUT consists of two campuses in Guangzhou, with the north campus located in the CBD - Tianhe District, the south campus in the Guangzhou University Town in Panyu.

Since its establishment in 1952, SCUT has developed into a major university that offers comprehensive disciplines including Science, Engineering, Business, Management, Liberal Arts, Law and Bio-Medical Science. SCUT is presently made up of 28 schools, with 18 on the north campus and 10 on the south.

SCUT has a faculty of over 4,294, with 2,021 teaching and researching staff. Presently, SCUT has formed a complete cultivation system of bachelor degree, master degree and doctor degree. It has over 56,777 students in postgraduate and undergraduate studies, continuing education and on-line education, among which there are 395 international students from 52 countries, currently studying Chinese, Chinese Culture, Arts, Science, Engineering, and Business Management, etc.

Over the past 54 years, the university has cultivated over 130,000 talented graduates, so as to be named by the society as “Cradle of Engineers” and “Cradle of Entrepreneurs”.

Aiming for an international university, SCUT has been very active in international academic exchange, promoting collaborations with more than 50 overseas universities.
