Location and Environment
Situated in the Southwest of Liaoning
Province, with a population of 2,900,000,
the city of Jinzhou is well known for
its convenient transportation facilities.
Rich-endowed in mineral resources, Jinzhou
boasts remarkable petroleum and chemical
factories. Also known for its agriculture,
the city is famous for its peanut production.
Scattered throughout the city are numerous
historical sites and cultural items with
history of over 3000 years. Jinzhou also
excels in culture and art, supporting
a Chinese opera troupe and a troupe of
acrobatic performers.
Jinzhou Port
Jinzhou Port opened by the
State Council in 1990 as a top class open seaport. Since then,
the port has been acting as a door leading Jinzhou and her hinterland
to the world and also offers an easiest way on the sea for the
transportation of the import and export for the regions in the
west of the Northeast and the east of Inner Mongolia. The port
has already completed her construction of 50,000-ton-class berth.
Jinzhou Airport is able to land large and medium sized airplanes.
Now the airlines to Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Wenzhou and
Dalian have been in service. Regarding the telecommunication,
the city has complete systems of digital telephone, mobile telephone
and pager. Direct dialing system to 190 countries and regions
are available. With the completion of the pivotal project of optic
fiber telecommunication, Jinzhou has become a chief center for
the telecommunication in the Northeast China and the West of Liaoning
Province.
Natural Resources
Jinzhou is abundant in resources and prosperous in economy. The
city was ranked at the 40th place in the 1993's Evaluation on
the Integrated Strength of Cities in China.

the Jincheng Paper Corp-the Largest producer in China for the best
offset printing paper and the Jinzhou Ferro-alloy Corp (group)-the
base in China for scientific research and production of specific
ferro-alloy products. Jinzhou is a land of fish rice and fruit More
than 5 million Chinese Mu of fertile farmland teem with Chinese
sorghum, corn, soybean Peanut cotton, rice and w heat. The extensive mountain
area¨s produce not only include apple but also include pear, grape
and Yunbai-apricot. The coastal beach is famous in China and abroad
for its produce of prawn, crab, arkshell and clam. Thirty-seven
varieties of underground minerals including petroleum, natural gas,
coal, lime stone, bentonite and fluorite provide resources for the
city's economic development.
Education
Jinzhou has a mass of scientific research and educational facilities
including 7 institutions of higher learning, 11 academies, 13
schools of skilled workers and over 80 schools of specific job
as well as 57 entities for scientific research Jinzhou devotes
much attention to knowledge and qualified personnel.
