Study in Liaoning Institute of Science and Technology (LIST)


(I) Characteristics:
  1. Liaoning Institute of Science and Technology has got a group of high quality Chinese language teachers with different capabilities including linguists, professors and professional Chinese language teachers.



  2. According to their respective mastery of the Chinese language, international students are grouped into different small-sized classes with no more than 10 students in each class. In such small-sized classes, the students have more chance to communicate with the teachers so that a better teaching result is achieved.



  3. In order to improve students' ability to speak Chinese and to practice Chinese, LIST has prepared select textbooks and recordings and first-class language labs for them. In addition, students have a lot of in-class practices and out-of-class activities



  4. LIST adopts totally new management theory and warm-hearted service to make the international students feel at home and make rapid progress



  5. Wonderful language situation: People in Benxi all speak standard Chinese instead of dialects.



  6. Very low living cost here: Though living standard here is high, the living cost is comparatively low. You can buy things very cheap in Benxi.


  7. The Chinese teachers in LIST are the first-class in Liaoning Province.


  8. LIST doesn’t have too many international students, so they have rare chance to speak their native languages, which is good for them to study Chinese here.



(II) Student Types and Time Arrangement:
  1. Student Types: Whoever in the world is willing to study Chinese may enroll himself/herself in our school's four-year or two- or three-year program, provided that he/she is within the age of 17~50 and satisfies the enrollment requirements.



  2. Application Time: Any time


  3. Entry Time: • For a short-term class (The time limit is 1-6 months): Jan. 15, Mar. 1, July 15, Sep. 1, and Nov. 1, of every year • For a long-term class (Above 6 months): Mar.1 and Sep. 1 of every year • For a short-term cultural expedition class: Any time. You may join a class any time you like.



  4. Time Limit:
    • For the language learner it is 1 to 24 months.
    • For a junior college student it is three years.
    • For an undergraduate student it is four years.


(III) Procedures of Application
  1. Ask for the application form by yourselves or by mail.


  2. Send to us the following materials in registered letter (either in Chinese or English):
    • Application Form
    • Personal Resume
    • Certificate of Educational Level
    • School Report
    • Certificate of Your Physical Examination (Recognized by China Embassy to the foreign countries)
    • Your Guardian's Guarantee
    • Five of your recent photos without wearing hat.


  3. Once checked and ratified, you'll be sent a JW202 form and matriculation notice.


  4. Using you passport and matriculation notice, you may go to China Embassy to your country to get your visa.



  5. Inform us of your arrival time and we'll pick you up at the airport or the railway/bus station.


  6. Report to our school by producing the following items:
    • Matriculation Notice
    • JW202 Form
    • Copies of the page of your passport to which your photo is attached, and of the page of your passport on which you get your visa.



  7. Pay off your fees, and fill in the entrance table.


  8. After being grouped into an appropriate class, you'll begin your study.


(IV) Fees:
  1. 1. Tuition:

    For the Chinese language training:
    • You need to pay US$200 for a month's training. After that, with every additional week, you need to pay US$25.
    • You need to pay US$600 for half a year's training.
    • You need to pay US$1,200 for a year's training.

    For the short-term cultural expedition class:
    • You need to pay a certain amount of money according to the real situation


  2. Rent and other fees:
    • For a single room with one bed, US$6 needs to be paid per day by one student.
    • For a single room with two beds, US$3 needs to be paid per day by one student
    • Registration fee: US$50 per student
    • Gas, water and electricity fees: US$20 a year for one student
    • For textbooks, you need to pay for them according to their respective price.


(V) Living Conditions:

Facilities inside each room: TV, air conditioner, telephone, wardrobe, desk, table lamp, toilet, shower.


Public Facilities: kitchen, washing/laundry machine, electric water-heater, cafes & restaurants room,.
