Founded in 1984, Shandong University, Weihai is a multidisciplinary, open and comprehensive university cobuilt by Shandong University and Weihai Municipal Government. She is a pioneer in running a branch campus in other cities by Chinese key universities. She witnesses the marvelous achievement of deepening reform and scientific development of Chinese higher education since reform and opening up.

Located in Weihai, a beautiful costal city and the most livable city in the world, Shandong University, Weihai has charming scenery and profound cultural heritage. Covering an area of over 108 hectares, Shandong University, Weihai has 10 schools and 2 teaching departments, spanning 7 general disciplines, namely, Literature, Art, Law, Economics, Management, Science and Engineering, and offering 44 Bachelor’s Degree Programs, 61 Master’s Degree Programs and 20 Doctoral Degree Programs. The university has established a multi-level educational system to cultivate PhD students, master students, undergraduate students and international students as well as postdoctoral students in 13 first-level disciplines, namely, Law, Politics, Physics, Applied Economics, Chinese Language and Literature, Biology, Mechanical Engineering, Foreign Language and Literature, Mathematics, Pharmacy, Ecology, Information and Communication Engineering, Control Science and Engineering.
