A city with never-ending exhibitions
Today, Yiwu is one of the most promising exhibition cities in China. More than 40 specialized exhibitions are held in the city each year. The most famous is the China Yiwu International Commodities Fair holding from October 22 to 26 every year. It has become the third largest trade exhibition next only to the Canton Fair and the East China Fair, and the largest most influential and successful daily-use consumer goods exhibition.
As the only enlisted county economy from a special report co-delivered by the United Nations, the World Bank and Morgan Stanley in 2005, Yiwu is mentioned as the world’s “largest mart for petty commodities”.
Location and Population
Located in the center of Zhejiang Province, merely 260 kilometers from Shanghai—the biggest city in China, and 120 kilometers from Hangzhou—the capital city of Zhejiang province, Yiwu finds itself in the subtropical monsoon zone, featuring mild and moist climate with clear seasonal changes. With a total area of 1,105 square kilometers, the city has a total population of 1.8 million, among which 697,000 are local residents and more than 1 million are migrant people of more than 40 ethnicities from across the country.
Transportation
The railway network links Yiwu with major Chinese big cities such as Beijing, Guangzhou and Shanghai. It’s only two hours’ travel from Shanghai and one hour from Hangzhou by train. Expressways run through the whole region. Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport is one hour away from Yiwu by car, operating international routs to countries like Japan, the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, the United Arab Emirates and 126 domestic routs to various parts of China. Yiwu airport now operates more tan 20 direct flights to Beijing, Guangzhou, Xiamen, Shenzhen and other cities in China.

Xiuhu Square
Xiuhu Square lies on the center of Yiwu city, which is the largest green square.
Green Corridor along Yiwu River
Along each bank of Yiwu River, a green corridor of 18km, with carpet-like lawn contrasted with colorful flowers and green trees, forms a splendid landscape picture scroll with clean water. The corridor includes 11 parks.
Da’an Temple Tower
It was first built in the year 1100, Song Dynasty. It is located in Xiuhu Park. Together with Xiuhu Square, it has become the cultural and historical symbol of Yiwu.
