     Chinese Government Scholarship Programme of Lanzhou University


 


I. Disciplines and Majors



International students who are interested in studying in Lanzhou University can apply for any master or doctoral program which our university provides. For more details please see the “List of Master and Doctoral Degree Program”

II.General Information on Chinese Government Scholarship



1. Scholarship students are exempt from registration fees, tuition fees, fees for laboratory experiment, fees for internship, and fees for basic learning materials.



2. Monthly living allowance is paid to the students from the date of registration at the following rates (CNY yuan per month):


Chinese Language Student: CNY 1,400 yuan
Master's Degree: CNY 1,700 yuan
General Scholar: CNY 1,700 yuan
Doctoral Degree: CNY 2,000 yuan
Senior Scholar: CNY 2,000 yuan
A one-off settlement subsidy after registration
CNY 1500 yuan



3. Students will be exempt from part of the fee for outpatient medical services generated in hospitals affiliated to Lanzhou University or the hospitals appointed by Lanzhou University. International students need to pay a certain percentage of those expenses in accordance with Lanzhou University’s relevant regulations.



4. Lanzhou University will provide intramural accommodation for the individual scholarship student according to the relevant regulations. The university will not be responsible for any expenses incurred by family members or visitors.



III.Details of studies



1. We only offer full-time programs for applicants.
2. All courses are taught in Chinese.
3. For master degree students, the duration of major studies is 2-3 years, for doctoral degree students, the duration of major studies is 3 years. With specific cases, under the approval of the faculty and university graduate school, student can complete the program prior to or later than the duration.



IV. Qualifications for Scholarship Application



1. Applicants must be foreign nationals, and in good health. Applicants must hold valid passports and will observe all the laws of China as well as the rules and regulations of Lanzhou University.
2. Applicants must have finished a bachelor’s degree or a degree with the same educational level and be under the age of 35.
3. Applicants for doctoral degree studies must have finished a master’s degree or a degree with the same educational level and be under the age of 40.



V. Application Documents



Note:
1. All forms should be printed double-sided with real signature at the bottom.



2. Applicants must send all the required documents by post (or express mail). Incomplete or invalid documents will be rejected.



3. The application materials will not be returned regardless of the result of application.


 


Applicants must submit:



1. Two copies of International Students Application Form for Lanzhou University which can be downloaded from http://sice.lzu.edu.cn/chinese/upload/51613478.doc (with a passport-sized photo for each form) printed in Chinese or in English.



2. Two copies of Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship (downloadable from http://sice.lzu.edu.cn/chinese/upload/226143248.doc or http://www.csc.edu.cn/Lianhua/?cid=26), one original and one photocopy, printed in Chinese or in English.



3. Highest diploma and degree (original or notarized version, in notarized Chinese or English translation). Senior students should provide certificate which can show their expected date of graduation. Original or notarized diploma should be submitted at registration. 



4. Proof of student status or current employer's introductory letter (if applicants are university students or currently employed). Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with translations in Chinese or English.



5. Related transcripts (original or notarized version, in notarized Chinese or English translation).



6. A study or research plan in Chinese or in English (no less than 800 words).



7. Two (2) letters of recommendation in Chinese or English by different professors or associate professors.



8. Foreigner's Physical Examination Form (downloadable from http://sice.lzu.edu.cn/chinese/upload/226143214.doc or http://www.csc.edu.cn/Lianhua/?cid=26), one original and one photocopy. The medical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner's Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, official stamp of the hospital or a sealed photograph of the applicants are invalid.



9. Three photocopies of applicant's passport information page and 3 passport-sized photos.



10. HSK certificate or notarized version, or other documents which can prove your Chinese proficiency. Applicants who can not meet HSK requirements should study Chinese language first (scholarship will be provided).



11. Copy of any award received or documents which can show your personal achievements.   


 



VI. Applications Deadline



Applications should be sent before 2009.12.25. Students please follow registration date on the admission notice.
