International Culture and Food Fair of Study &Culture Tour Held Successfully
The International Culture and Food Fair, one of the 2010 CTBU Study & Culture Tour activities was held successfully in the Front Square in the afternoon of May 20th. More than 40 participants from partner universities, international students on the campus as well as hundreds of CTBU students and teachers took part in it.
At 4 o’clock, with the help from the students of Volunteer Association of International Cooperation & Exchange, the participants from 8 countries including USA, UK, France, Canada, South Korea, Thailand exhibited food with characteristics of their own countries in the tents which are decorated with their national flag and pictures. They also made specialties with the materials they bought from their own countries or from local supermarkets.
All the foreign students and professors were divided into eight groups and cooked various kinds of food such as British Marmite toast, Canadian carrot cake, American fried potatoes and Salsa and Korean kimchi soup. The fantastic cuisines attracted hundreds of students and teachers from CTBU in just a few minutes. They tasted delicious dishes as they talked with foreign “chefs” about Halloween mask and the history of Easter eggs and the eating habits. Some even tried to learn Western dishes on site. “Chefs” answered the questions from th audience.
The International Cutlure and Food Fair came to an end at 6, but both Chinese and foreign students and teachers were still enthusiastic. This activity not only offered a stage for foreign students and teachers to demonstrate their own culture, but also provided a great opportunity for CTBU students to taste foreign food and culture as well as communicate with foreign friends.
