The 43rd SJTU Sports Games Was Grandly Held
On the morning of May 28, Colored flags were fluttering in the wind at the Bright Stadium on SJTU Minhang Campus with the background of the exciting rhythm of the Athletic March, marking the opening of the 43rd SJTU Sports Games, attended by Secretary of CPC SJTU Committee Ma Dexiu, SJTU President Zhang Jie, deputy Secretary of CPC SJTU Committee Xu Fei, standing member of CPC SJTU Committee Li Jianqiang, deputy Secretary of CPC Committee of SJTU Medical School Xia Xiaohe, etc. Xu Fei presided over the opening ceremony.
As Secretary Ma Dexiu declared the opening of the 43rd SJTU Sports Games, applause raised all over the stadium and white pigeons flied into the sky, symbolizing SJTUers flying their dreams and looking forward to the future.
President Zhang Jie delivered a speech at the opening, conveying his congratulations on the sports games. He said that SJTU’s persistence and striving for better during the 114 years accorded with the spirits of sports. “Health has become a very important part in the quality of elites and is basic for a successful life or career. Therefore, he who wants to be a leader in any walk of life must at first keep healthy.” He hopes that the games will help all the SJTUers learn to be persistent and strong, so that they can stay healthy and dedicate to their country for 50 years, making contributions to SJTU’s becoming a world-class university and China’s rejuvenation.
Aimed at implementing the spirit of “shining sports”, building up the guiding thought of “health first”, and improving students’ comprehensive quality, the sports games were held with the theme of “Youth Celebrating EXPO”. Guided by the tenets of “participation, health, education, endeavor”, the games demonstrated that SJTUers work hard with a united and tenacious spirit.
