President Wang Meets With U.S.-China Friendship Volunteer Teachers
President Wang Chongju and Vice-president Gou Chaoli met with US-China friendship volunteer teachers--Candice Allgaier and Renee Vetsch whose service would expire soon. President Wang paid tributes to them for their dedication to the improvement of CTBU students’ English competence. Vice-president Gou expressed her gratitude to them for their help to the students and contribution to the multi-cultural campus of CTBU. Candice and Renee also said that they had a great time and experience when teaching at CTBU with diligent stdudents and friendly Chinese colleagues.
The United States Volunteer Program in China started in 1998. According to the agreement between U.S.A. and China, U.S. government sends volunteer teachers to China every year. The teachers are responsible for teaching English for two years in colleges in Sichuan , Chongqing, Guizhou and Gansu provinces. CTBU has been project university in this program for a long time and receives two volunteers each year.
