“Study of Confucian Classics: Knowledge and Value” Opens at RUC

 The academic conference held by the Institute of Study of Confucian Classics of RUC School of Chinese Classics entitled “Study of Confucian Classics: Knowledge and Value” on July 17th, 2010. Over 40 scholars from China mainland, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan across the Strait attended the conference.

 
Prof. Huang Pumin, Senior Deputy Dean of RUC School of Chinese Classics, chaired the opening ceremony. RUC President and Dean of School of Chinese Classics Ji Baocheng delivered a report on “Re-discover the Subject of Chinese Civilization”.
 
 
Renowned scholar and professor of Department of History of Tsinghua University Li Xueqin believed that Confucianism is the subject of Chinese traditional academy and the core of it is the study of Confucian classics that should be attached great importance to in the process of further developing Chinese Classics.
 
During the two days’ conference, scholars discussed about the relationship between the study of Confucian classics and philosophy, direction and detailed questions of studying Confucian classics, and some new ideas sparkled.
