The Office of International Relations ??

     The Office of International Relations (OIR) oversees the planning of Peking University 's (PKU) international relations by attending to a broad range of res-ponsibilities.

     OIR executes the university's policies regarding external affairs and the coordination of international academic exchange. Together with the university president, OIR drafts new policies concerning international relations and thus plans the development of projects involving international affairs in the Unive-rsity.

     The office is also responsible for handling the external affairs of departm-ents throughout PKU. OIR facilitates teaching, scientific research, and general academic exchange by providing informational services. The office also over-sees foreign visits to the University; it invites foreign experts to the university, participates in student recruitment, receives foreign students, scholars, and visiting professors to the University, and oversees the living arrangements and studies of these academic visitors as well as the travel necessities of foreign dignitaries visiting PKU. In addition, OIR assists the travel of the many stude-nts, teaching and administrative staff going abroad on official university busin-ess by handling passport and visa arrangements; the office also offers recom-mendations to PKU professors and administrators for their personal travel nee-ds. Further responsibilities of the office include handling international confer-ence requests, keeping contact information and relations with foreign univer-sities, and attending to affairs identified by the University president.

     OIR has established many sub offices to handle these broad responsibilities: the Office of International Relations (OIR) has five divisions: Division of General Affairs, Division for Exchange Programs, Division for International Student Affa-irs, Division of Foreign Experts and Overseas Educational Cooperation, and Divi-sion for Overseas Affairs. The Packard International Visiting Scholar Residence and Lin Hu Xuan are also under the administration of OIR.
