ZUST is located in Hangzhou, the capital of Zhejiang Province, which is one of the most prosperous provinces in China with strong economic growth, vitality and potential. The University is at the foot of Xiaohe Mountain, with a tranquil lake inside and rolling hills surrounding the campus, only twenty-minute ride from the most famous scenic spot in China---West Lake.
ZUST has more than 18,500 students, 1,100 staff members, including more than 300 associate professors and professors. It has 14 schools and offers 39 undergraduate programmes across a wide range of areas. Furthermore, ZUST has many provincial-level key labs and key disciplines.
ZUST has been a nominated pilot institution of Chinese-German cooperation in the area of application-orientated talent cultivation by the Chinese Government. The development and construction of ZUST is closely associated with its international cooperation. Since the establishment of ZUST, the University has cooperated with German applied science universities, and now it becomes an important platform of education and technology cooperation between Zhejiang Province and Germany. Up today, ZUST has successfully established formal links with universities in Germany, U.K., Australia, France, USA, Japan, South Korea, etc. Many honored guests and professors visited ZUST and worked on campus, including the former German President Roman Herzog.
