Majors and Programs

1. Undergraduate Programs

(1) Application requirements

Applicants must be in possession of a valid passport, aged between 18 and 30, in good health, and with a minimum educational level equivalent to Chinese senior high school graduation, good English for those majoring in programs in English; good Chinese (passing the 4th level HSK) for those majoring programs in Chinese, or to take additional one-year course of Chinese language prior major their study in USTL.

(2) Documents required for application

a. Application form for foreign students to study at USTL (available for download from the International Education Office (IEC) at http://202.199.240.66/eng/UploadFile/AFFIS.doc)

b. Photocopy of passport main (data) page and blank visa page, and 8 passport photos

c. High school certification (copy of the original diploma and notarized copy in Chinese or English)

d. The certificate for Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK, level 4 or higher) for those who intend to study in Chinese.

2. Master Programs

(1) Application requirements

Applicants must be in possession of a valid passport, under the age of 40, in good health and with a minimum educational level of Bachelor’s degree, able to take courses in English or in Chinese (reaching the 4th level HSK), two recommendation letters from persons of at least associate professor status.

(2) Documents required for application

a. Application form for foreign students to study at USTL (available for download from the International Education Office (IEC) at http://202.199.240.66/eng/UploadFile/AFFIS.doc)

b. Photocopy of passport main (data) page and blank visa page, and 8 passport photos

c. Bachelor’s degree certificate and all other relevant documents and diplomas (copy of the original certificate and notarized copy in Chinese or English)

d. Two recommendation letters from professors.

e. Certificate of Chinese level HSK (level 4 or higher). Applicants without such HSK qualification should take the Chinese test provided by the university. Those who gain an equivalent result will be considered

3. Doctorate Programs

(1) Application requirements

Applicants must be in possession of a valid passport, in good health and with a minimum educational level of Master’s degree. Under the age of 40, able to take courses in English or in Chinese (reaching the 6th level HSK), two recommendation letters from persons of at least associate professor status.

(2) Documents required for application

a. Application form for foreign students to study at USTL (available for download from the International Education Office (IEC) at http://202.199.240.66/eng/UploadFile/AFFIS.doc)

b. Photocopy of passport main (data) page and blank visa page, and 8 passport photos

c. Master degree certificate and all other relevant documents and diplomas (copy of the certificate & and notarized copy in Chinese or English)

d. Two recommendation letters from professors.

4. Dates for Application

For Master and Degree Ph.D. Students: The Application dates for the spring semester are from September 15 to December 31 of the year prior to enrollment, and for the fall semester, from March 1 to June 30 of the year of enrollment.

For Ph.D. Degree Students who want to apply Liaoning Government Scholarship: The Application dates are from March 1 to April 30 of the year of enrollment.

5. For Bachelor Degree Students

The Application dates are from March 1st to June 30th.
