Guangzhou Medical University has enrolled the first batch of international students for the MBBS programme in English Medium from India, Nepal and Tanzania in 2010. International students at GMU will not only experience comprehensive and prestigious academic training, but also enjoy a dynamic and vibrant campus life.
International Students’ Affairs Office (ISO) is a specialized division responsible for enrolment, admission, and administrative affairs of the international students at Guangzhou Medical University.
Apart from ISO, we also provide a volunteer team to facilitate international students in academic learning and adaptation to life in Guangzhou. The team is composed of excellent postgraduate students, who speak fluent English and always ready to offer assistance. They assist the international students on one-to-one basis in opening bank accounts, registering, shopping and anything further they need help with.
Dynamic Campus life
With the guidance of International Students’ Affairs Office (ISO), festivals and activities are tailor-made for international students. Some are held annually, such as Christmas Eve Celebration, New Year’s Eve Celebration. Some are held regularly, such as the Chinese Salon for International Students. We also organize one-day or half-day tours for international students, such as bicycling in the University Town. There are many student associations which international students may join to engage in campus life. Through these activities, international students will develop their communicational skills and leadership.
MBBS in English for Foreign Students:
The Ministry of Education, China announced strict measures known as Interim Provisions for Quality Control Standards on Undergraduate Medical Education in English for International Students in China in the year 2007, and since then, it has been publishing the list of medical schools which have are qualified to recruit international MBBS students in English medium.
Guangzhou Medical University is one of the 34 medical schools, in the year 2010, which were qualified by MOE to recruit international MBBS students in English medium. GMU strictly follows the regulations of MOE, China, with regard to policies to recruit international MBBS students in English medium, in order to impart quality medical education such as course duration, internship, course curriculum, teachers’ qualification, admission criteria, etc.
Name of the course
MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery), MBBS is the primary medical qualification to practice medicine in any country.
Medium of teaching: As a qualified medical university, to recruit international MBBS students in English medium, GMU is committed to impart quality medical education in English medium with its highly qualified faculties who have been educated abroad as well as the foreign experts.
As per criteria established by MOE, China, course duration for MBBS in English medium is 6 years which includes one year internship in the affiliated hospitals of GMU.
Tuition Fee: RMB 25,000/annum
Textbooks: Actual charge
Hostel Fee: RMB 4000/annum
Registration Fee (1st year only): RMB 500
Residence Permit: RMB 400/ permit
Medical Insurance (at least including Accidental Injury Medical Treatment Insurance and Hospitalization Medical Insurance): RMB 600/annum
Eligibility for admission:
The minimum qualification is Senior High School or 10+2 or A level with Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Applicants must be under the age of 30, without criminal record.
Senior high school transcript and certificate, Copy of passport, Application Form for International Students, Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Applicants must fulfill the percentage of marks required for medical study by the medical council or government in their respective countries and reach the requirement for international students of GMU.
It takes approximate 6 to 8 weeks after the application deadline to receive the notification of admission. If admitted, we will send you the admission notice and other relevant documents.
Guangzhou Medical University’s regulations require that all international students should be medically insured throughout their entire planned period of study. Students are required to purchase the Comprehensive Insurance Plan of Foreign Students provided by Ping An insurance company on the day of registration. The medical insurance should include the following:
1.Ping An Insurance ( Loss of Life Insurance & Disability Insurance): Up to AMB 100,000
2.Accidental Injury Medical Treatment Insurance: Up to RMB 10,000;
3.Hospitalization Medical Insurance: Up to RMB 400,000.
