Shenzhen to host sister cities cultural week
More than 70 artists from seven of Shenzhen's sister and friendship cities will be in town for the second International Sister Cities Cultural and Art Week to be held from Tuesday to Dec 7.
The artists — from the United States, Russia, France, Germany, Italy, Togo and South Korea — will bring a variety of performances and programs to entertain and inform city residents.
The highlights of the week, which is sponsored by the Shenzhen Municipal Government, will be a concert of Italian classic operas to be staged at the Shenzhen Concert Hall on Thursday. An American song and dance drama, the "Legend of Yin and Yang" will be staged at the Shenzhen Grand Theater on Saturday.
Artists from Samara in Russia will stage a concert, featuring traditional and modern songs and dances from the Samara region, at the Shenzhen Citizens' Center on Thursday.
There will be an exhibition of works of art from Nuremberg, Germany, and Vienne, France, at the Shenzhen Museum, as well as an exhibition of photographs of Shenzhen's sister and friendship cities, at the Central Book City.
Shenzhen has 32 sister cities and 15 friendship cities in 23 countries and regions.
Organizers of this year's cultural week will distribute 1,300 free tickets for the concert of Italian classic operas and 1,800 free tickets for the "Legend of Yin and Yang" at three locations: Central Book City, Luohu Book City and Nanshan Book City on Monday (Nov 30) and Tuesday (Dec 1).
