Transtlate “2009 Shanghai Xinhua International Forum of Children’s Respiration”sponsored by XinhuaHospitalaffiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine was held from October 17 to 20. Over 400 experts from the children’s respirator field of the United States, Japan, Chinaand other countries gathered in Shanghaiand had the symposium on the progress and hot issues of the current research on children’s respiration.
The forum provided the most cutting-edge platform of academic exchanges for the treatment of children’s respiratory diseases. Each symposium is reported on the carefully-selected topic which is the most popular currently and the practical clinical knowledge. It covered the cause and drug resistance of respiratory tract infections, and the pandemic trend and prevention and control measures of the H1N1 influenza, etc. In addition, the forum made a full-range introduction of the latest developments in clinical and experimental research on children’s respiration and bronchoscopy. Asthma is a common chronic childhood disease. In the past 20 years, the incidence of the disease is also increasing in the developing countries. The clinical and basic research on children’s asthma is being widely carried out. Professor Bao Yixiao, the chairman of the conference and chief of Pediatrics department of XinhuaHospitalsaid that, in recent years along with the continuous development of molecular biology and genetics, the thorough research on asthmatic gene is deepening. Asthma is now recognized to be of evident tendency for familial aggregation and is a kind of complex, multi-factor and multi-gene hereditary disease. Professor Bao who has been subsidized by National Natural Science Fund for two consecutive years because of special research on asthmatic gene said that this forum would forcefully push forward the treatment of children’s respiratory diseases including asthma.
