Chinese Government Scholarship Programme of Tianjin University

 

School Introduction

Tianjin University is one of the designated Chinese institutions of higher education, authorized by China Scholarship Council and the Ministry of Education of China to recruit the foreign students under Chinese Government Scholarship Program. Recruitment quota of 25 is set for Master Degree and Doctoral Degree in our university.

Tianjin University began to enroll international students from 1954, and it is the earliest universities to accept international students in china. Up to now, it has accepted more 8000 international students of different levels from over 90 countries and regions in Asia, Africa, Europe, North America, South America and Oceania.

 

Student types and Duration of scholarship

The duration of scholar is same as the study duration which is confirmed when the students enter our university. There is no extension in principle.
The foreign students without any Chinese language basis can learn Chinese for one year in the School of International Education in Tianjin University.

 

Details and standards of the scholarship program

1. Exempt from registration fee, tuition fee, fee for laboratory experiment, fee for internship, fee for basic learning material and intramural accommodation;
Accommodation condition: Master’s ：double-bed room；PhD: one-bed room

2. Living allowance and one-off settlement subsidy
(1) Standard of Living allowance: (RMB)
Master’s: 1,700 RMB/month; PhD: 2,000 RMB/month
(2)The new student will get 1,500RMB as the one-off settlement subsidy

3. Offer the outpatient medical service and comprehensive medical insurance for the students under Chinese Government Scholarship Program

Qualification for the applicants

1. Non-Chinese citizens with good health;

2. Education and age requirements

For Master’s applicants: holding a Bachelor degree, under the age of 35(Born after 1973).
For PhD applicants: holding a Master degree, under the age of 40(born after 1968).

 

Application materials

The applicants must fill in and submit the following application materials according to the facts (both duplicated)

1. The applicants need to log on the website of School of International Education, Tianjin University: http://www.ietju.com/apply.asp to download the Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship Program and Foreigner Physical Examination Form.

(1) Fill in the Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship Program in English or Chinese by typing, with the photo on. The original and a copy need to be submitted;

(2) Fill in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form in English (keep the original and submit a copy). The applicants should strictly take the examination according to the requirements in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. The application forms which don’t meet all the requirements, such as, without photo of the applicant, no paging seal, no seal from the hospital or no signature of the doctor are invalid. The valid period for the examination result is 6 months, please arrange the time for the exam accordingly.

2. The notarized certificate of the highest diploma and transcript. If the applicant is at work, a work certificate needs to be submitted given by the company he or she is working now. The certificate and transcript which are not in English or Chinese version should be translated into English or Chinese version and also be notarized.（also original one and a copy）

3.  Need to submit a research plan for the period studying in China, not less than 800 words in English or Chinese.

4.  The applicants who apply for Master’s need to submit the recommendation letters in English or Chinese from two teachers with titles of /or above associate professors; the applicants who apply for the PhD need to submit the recommendation letters in English or Chinese from two teachers with title of professor.

5. Copy of passport

6. The applicant who don’t need to study Chinese, have to submit us the HSK6 (or above) certificate.
The applicants need to mail all above application materials to: Admission Office, School of International Education, Tianjin University.
Application materials will not be returned regardless of the result of application.

The one who is interested in this scholar program can make a contact with Foreign Students Admission Office of School of International Education, Tianjin University at first. The teachers who are in charge of this scholar program there will give you the brief introduction and answer all the questions. Also can send the completed application form by E-mail or Fax to apply, and then mail all the application materials to them.

Matriculation and Notice

1) The application will not be processed if it is inconsistent with the recruitment requirements or the materials are incomplete.
