2009 Forum for American/Chinese Exchange at Stanford Opens

RUC Vice-President Prof. Chen Yulu was invited to attend the banquet for opening ceremony of 2009 Forum for American/Chinese Exchange at Stanford (FACES) jointly organized by Renmin University and Peking University on Nov. 15th, 2009.  Robert Pothier, President of FACES and a senior of Stanford University, presided over the banquet. Over 70 representatives of excellent university students from both China and US attended the opening ceremony.

RUC Vice-President Prof. Chen Yulu delivered his congratulatory address and extended his warm welcome to all the representatives to RUC. He said that the 2009 FACES opens during President Obama’s visit in China and the 30th anniversary of the establishment of Sino-US diplomatic relation, so it would be a good opportunity for university students to focus on and discuss about Sino-US relationship.

Prof. Michael Pettis from Guanghua School of Management at Peking University then gave his speech on the economic and trade cooperation between China and US.

Tan Siduo, President of FACES_Renmin and a junior of RUC, extended the warm welcome on behalf of RUC students to all representatives and wished they have a good time in RUC. Pan Yunli, President of FACES_Peking and a senior of Peking University, also gave a speech as the representative of all student attendants.

FACES was a significant international communication project organized by Center for East Asian Studies at Stanford University and was established by Stanford students in 2001. FACES was aimed to enhance the communication between students of China and US so as to establish a sound basis for future Sino-US relation. FACES has now developed into a big international student forum organization supported by all walks of life in China and US with four branches in China including FACES_Renmin, FACES_Peking, FACES_Fudan and FACES_Zhejiang.
