A Delegation from the Calumet Campus of Purdue University Visits RUC

Transtlate RUC Vice-President Prof. Chen Yulu met with Dr. Ralph V. Rogers, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at Purdue University Calumet, and his delegation on Oct.30th, 2009. The accompanying visitors included Prof. Chenn Zhou, Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, and Song Kai, Coordinator of student affairs.
Founded in 1948, the Purdue University Calumet has Bachelor and Master degree courses of more than 100 disciplines and majors in engineering, business administration, media and social sciences with over 10,000 students.
This October marked the first connect between Purdue University Calumet and Renmin University. RUC Prof. Chen Yulu introduced the disciplinary features and advantages of Renmin and the International Summer School Program as well as the English Master Degree Program of Contemporary Chinese Studies. He hoped to explore the possibilities of bilateral cooperation in language teaching and student and faculty exchanges.
Dr. Ralph V. Rogers expressed his great interest in RUC’s international programs and put forward to exchange language teachers on a trial basis. He said that Purdue University Calumet always attached great importance to their students’ international experiences and views and would like to develop various collaborations with RUC.
Both sides agreed to follow up the student and faculty exchanges as well as the International Summer School Program.
Prof. Tang Zhong, Director of RUC International Office, and Prof. Li Qingsi from RUC School of International Studies, also attended the meeting.
