Renmin University-Hitotsubashi University Joint Forum Opens in RUC
The “2009 Renmin University-Hitotsubashi University Joint Forum: Global Crisis and the Roles of China and Japan”, organized by Renmin University and Hitotsubashi University, co-organized by Japan Mizuho Financial Group, and co-operated by RUC School of Economics, Shenzhen Research Institute and Beijing Changan Group, was held in the Run Run Shaw Hall of RUC on Oct.31st, 2009.
Prof. Yuan Wei, Senior Vice-President of RUC, Prof. Susumu Yamauchi, Vice President of Hitotsubashi University, and Mr. Nakazawa kotaro, Executive Director of Mizuho Financial Bank, attended the forum and addressed respectively. Dr. Liu Kegu, Vice-Governor of the China Development Bank and a member of the CPPCC, Mr. Wang Xiaoyi of the State Administration of Foreign Exchange, Dr. Lin Jiabin, Deputy Director of the Research Department of Social Development at the Development Research Center of the State Council, also attended the forum. More than 10 scholars delivered their academic speeches on the forum which was co-haired by Prof. Chen Jian, Dean of RUC Shenzhen Research Institute, and Prof. Takashi Misumi from the Graduate School of Commerce and Management at the Hitotsubashi University.
Before the opening of the forum, RUC President Prof. Ji Baocheng met with the Hitotsubashi University delegation and other distinguished guests in the morning. Prof. Ji extended his warmest welcome to all the guests and introduced RUC’s achievements in disciplinary construction in recent years. Both sides deeply discussed on the details of the forum and the possible cooperative programs.
Prof. Yuan Wei, RUC Senior Vice-President, and Prof. Susumu Yamauchi, Vice President of Hitotsubashi University, respectively delivered their congratulatory speeches on the forum. They believed the two universities were both social sciences-oriented and the forum would help to promote the regional cooperation and would be a good example of Sino-Japanese cultural communications.
Japanese and Chinese scholars deeply discussed on such issues as the global crisis, its impact on China and Japan, how to increase cooperation between China and Japan, and so on.
At the closing ceremony of the forum, Prof. Yang Ruilong, Dean of RUC School of Economics, and Prof. Ogawa Eiji, Director of the Graduate School of Commerce and Management at the Hitotsubashi University, delivered their summary speeches. They fully praised the achievements of the forum and hoped the two universities would explore deeper cooperation in more aspects.
More than 10 media interviewed and reported the forum, such as Xinhua News Agency, CCTV, and Economic Daily News and so on.
