On December 2, the delegation led by President Zhangjie and Vice President Lin Zhongqin paid a visit to China Academy of Engineering Physics (hereinafter referred to as “CAEP”) located in Mianyang, Sichuan Province. President Zhang Jie, in behalf of SJTU signed the “CAEP–SJTU Strategic Cooperation Framework Agreement”with Zhao Xiangeng, Director of CAEP.

Vice President, Lin Zhongqin introduced the condition of SJTU and the overall situation of scientific research. Liu Mingzhu, Deputy Dean of Graduate School briefed on the joint postgraduate education program. Wang Houji, deputy director of President Office of SJTU, Zhou Wei, Vice Dean of Advanced Technology and Equipment Institute, and leaders in charge of scientific research from School of Mechanical Engineering, School of Electronic, Information and Electrical Engineering, School of Materials Science and Engineering, Department of Physics, and Research Institute of Micro/Nano Science and Technology, etc and the academic pacemakers concerned also went for company.

The contract signing ceremony was hosted by Deputy Director of CAEP. The participants of both sides carried out key exchange on the joint postgraduate education, joint laboratory building and the institute-university cooperation on scientific research, etc. Director Zhao Xiangeng said, Shanghai Jiao Tong University had the history and tradition to serve the country’s cutting-edge physical technology. Among 23 scientists who received the “Two Bombs and One Satellite” Meritorious Award, 6 are alumni of SJTU and have made great contribution to the development of China’s high-tech. He hoped that both sides could deepen the cooperation within the comprehensive strategic cooperation framework, particularly strengthen the cooperation in production and research in the key research areas and personnel training of CAEP.

After the ceremony, accompanied by Zhang Weiyan, Deputy Director of CAEP, President Zhang Jie and Vice President Lin Zhongqin and others visited the Science Museum of CAEP and mega-science project equipments and listened to the introduction given by the relevant research staff. President Zhang Jie, in behalf of SJTU, expressed the gratitude to Director Zhao Xiangeng and CAEP for their support to the scientific research of SJTU, and invited Director Zhao Xiangeng to lead a delegation pay a visit to SJTU at their convenience, to conduct the cooperation, and to make newer and bigger contributions to China’s cutting-edge physics through joint efforts.
