General Info about Studying Abroad in China
A growing number of foreign youth have been coming to study in China. An expanding economy and rising international profile make China increasingly attractive. In the last few years, 77,000 foreign students have come to study in China. These students come from countries all over the world, including Japan, North America, Indonesia, Germany, Russia, Nepal, France and Australia.
Foreign students in China often take courses that offer Chinese content like language, culture, history and medicine. In recent years, many of these students have also begun to specialize in courses like Chinese law, finance, accounting, sciences and engineering.
China is also trying to attract more foreign students by encouraging them to live with local Chinese families off campus in order to get a better understanding of the Chinese way of life. As well, English and Chinese are now being applied to postgraduate courses in order to attract those students who can speak and understand some Chinese.
It's estimated that as many as 630,000 thousand foreign students from 170 countries and areas have come to study in China since 1949. They help play a significant role in promoting communication and cooperation between China and their own countries.
