China to Further Develop Continuing Education
China will further develop continuing education in a bid to strengthen the country's human resources, a senior official said on Saturday.
Liu Yandong, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, made the remarks at a meeting on continuing education.
Continuing education, or further education, is a kind of education system that provides mainly part-time adult students with knowledge and skills. In China it includes self-study examination, open university, correspondent education, colleges' network education, and evening universities systems.
Liu called for further development of the continuing education system as the country is still facing the shortage of education resources.
She urged the government to improve related policies in finance and taxation, in a bid to guarantee the sustainable development of the continuing education system.
The last 30 years has witnessed the great development of China's continuing education system, which has provided education and professional trainings for hundreds of millions of people.
