Graduates From Peking University Choose to venture on farming

Many students will always choose to study abroad after graduate from top unviersity, while Liu Guoqi is an exception. "My major is biology, and I love the countryside. More importantly, my classmates and I have discovered the business opportunity of daylily planting,” Liu said. Exporting daylilies to Beijing, Shanghai and Hangzhou earns him an annual profit of 600,000 yuan to 700,000 yuan ($94,000 to $110,000), and the size of his farms has expanded fourfold since 2010. Looking ahead, Liu plans to bring in tourists to the daylily fields. “We’ll not only plant daylilies, but also turn it into an industry,” Liu said.
