A Wonderful Visit to Kunshan First People's Hospital

Kunshan (昆山) also named Lucheng ( 鹿城) is a satellite city in the great Suzhou region. Administratively, it is a county-level city within Suzhou. It is located in the southeastern part of Jiangsu Province, China, and adjacent to Jiangsu's border with the Shanghai Municipality. Kunshan is regarded as one of the most economically successful county-level administrations in China.

On Friday, 16th of August, 2013, a group of International medical students from all levels at Jiangsu University led by the Dean of Overseas Educational College (OEC) Pro.Jing Gao visited the First People's Hospital of  Kunshan which has now become one of the affiliate hospital of Jiangsu university. On arrival, we were warmly welcomed by the hospital deputy director who introduced us to the town and the hospital environment, particularly the up-to-date hospital lecture room. The entire team was amazed with the current successful state of both the town and the hospital. After the first part of the familiarization tour, we were treated to a very special lunch to the admiration of all the people present. Later on, the team was grouped in to three for the final part of the hospital tour to appreciate the various equipment they have in stock which is one of the top most concern for every medical students.
We were all excited to see functional up-to-date equipment in the clinical and research laboratories. The demonstration rooms were also well equipped. For me, it was not just a visit but an academic exercise, because we had the opportunity to practice for few hours in the hospital’s demonstration room under the supervision of some hospital staff.

The trip was very educative and everybody expressed positive feelings about the whole exercise as we returned back to school. I hope when school resumes similar trips will be organized for other students to also have a feel of such experience. I believe with the help of our outstanding tutors and first-class affiliate hospitals we shall graduate as a true “product” of Jiangsu University.

I will therefore like to use this opportunity on behalf of my other colleagues to thank the OEC most especially Pro.Jing Gao and the assistant vice dean Miss Wang for organizing such a wonderful academic trip and others who supported in diverse ways. It is my expectation that such activities will be frequently organized for students in the near future.
