Australasian program at Shanghai University of International Business and Economics
When the month-long Australasian program, at Shanghai University of International Business and Economics, came to an end, on July 18, there were awarding, certificates, and prizes for the participants and volunteers.
For four weeks, the students got every chance to immerse themselves in Chinese culture, see what China is all about, and attend classes and lectures on Chinese language, calligraphy and painting, as well as traditional dance, martial arts and tai-chi. They also paid a visit to the Shanghai Museum, Lujiazui finance center, and water towns.
The Australasian program is especially designed for students from the Oceania region, to increase ties between China and Oceania, and this year had 42 students from nine Oceania schools, with sponsorship from the Shanghai Education Commission.
