Teens to get crash course in stage acting this summer

Winning an international competition a continent away takes practice and a support network to nurture that talent. So in hopes of developing the next generation of performers, this summer, students across Beijing will get a crash course in the classic arts, all under the watchful eyes of professionals. In Beijing, national art troupes have organized a series of classes, art tours and a host of other activities for teenagers.

Last weekend, nearly a hundred children visited the Theatre of China Ethnic Song And Dance Ensemble to learn the basics of folk dance. For young aspiring thepsian, at the National Center for the Performing Arts, pianist Chen Sa and percussionist Li Biao gave young music lovers an interesting lesson. Having opened on July 2nd, there will be 200 concerts and 10 exhibitions open free to children, at the NCPA until August 31st.  Meanwhile the Fourth Children's Theatre Festival will present more than 40 world famous plays and summer camps for children, to push them deep into the world of stage acting.
