Top 1Jiuzhai Valley, Sichuan

Jiuzhai Valley in Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province, is a magical fairyland in nature that enchants tourists with mountains, forests, lakes, waterfalls and teeming wildlife. During autumn, colorful leaves are reflected in the clear emerald waters. Lakes vary in color according to their depths, angles and surroundings, striking a lively contrast with the blue sky and snow-white clouds.

With a history of more than 3,000 years, Beijing is the center of politics, economy, culture and art in China. Numerous cultural relics and natural scenery, including the Great Wall, Forbidden City, Summer Palace, Temple of Heaven, Yuanmingyuan Park, Yonghegong Lama Temple and the Fragrant Hills make it a city no to be missed on a trip to China. Traditional hutongs and courtyards show off the local custom and culture. Although autumn in Beijing is very short, it is the best time to visit, as the weather is the most pleasant at this period of time. Top 3Kanas Lake, Xinjiang

Kanas Lake, lying in a valley in the Altai Mountains, is located near the very northern tip of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. 'Kanas' is a Mongolian word meaning 'lake in the canyon.' The lake is famous for its fantastic natural landscape and mysterious local legend. It is surrounded by thick layers of forest, and the color of the water changes according to different seasons, weather and depth. In autumn, the lake becomes a kaleidoscope of colors of gold, red, blue and green. In 1980, Kanas Nature Reserve was founded as a part of the Kanas Lake area and is now considered a paradise for travelers and hikers.

Changbai Mountain in southeastern Jilin Province is located on the border between China and North Korea. Considered as the most famous mountain in northeast China, Changbai Mountain has rich biodiversity. With an average altitude of 2,000 meters, the mountain is well-known for its snowy scenery, cool summers and an abundance of mineral springs.

Shigatse, the second largest city in Tibet, sits at the junction of the Yarlung Tsangpo River and the Nyangchu River and is the most colorful area in Tibet. It has vast grasslands, fertile river valley fields, flourishing semitropical jungles and snowfields. Famous attractions include Xiqin Spring, Yatung Spring, Yongzelucuo Lake, Palkor Monastery in Gyantse, Sakya Monastery, Pingcuolin Monastery, Juenang Monastery, Pala Manor and Tashilumpo Monastery.

Top 6Hulunbuir Grasslands, Inner Mongolia

Located in northeastern Inner Mongolia, the Hulunbuir Grasslands are considered the 'most unsullied grasslands' in China. Named after the Hulun and Buir lakes, the grasslands feature forests, rivers and lakes. After May, the green grassland is dotted with colorful flowers, birds, and cattle and sheep scattered among the grasses. There are also various local activities, including horseback and camelback riding, horse racing and wrestling.

Top 7Huangguoshu Waterfall, Guizhou

Located in southwest Anshun, Guizhou Province, Huangguoshu Waterfall is the largest and most magnificent group of waterfalls in China. With splendid scenery, the waterfall was included in the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's largest waterfall group in 1999. It is 77.8 meters high and 101 meters wide, with 17 smaller waterfalls. As the roaring water runs down through the rocks, it sends up myriad of sprays, which glitter like rainbows in the sunlight. Huangguoshu Waterfall Festival is celebrated around September 16 every year.

Top 8Aershan City, Inner Mongolia

Aershan, which means 'hot magic spring' in Mongolian, is a city located in northwestern Xing'an Meng, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. At the southwest foot of Greater Khingan Mountains, with Hulunbuir Grasslands in the east and Xilin Gol Grasslands in the west, Aershan is a wonderful place to travel. There are a large extinct volcano basalt area, mineral hot springs, and the beautiful Xizi Lake.

Top 9Pingyao Ancient Town, Shanxi

Pingyao Ancient Town is located in the middle of Shanxi Province, about 715 kilometers from Beijing. It is one of the best-preserved ancient towns in China. The town was first founded during the reign of King Xuan (827-782 BC) of the Western Zhou Dynasty. After thousands of years, the ancient walls, streets, houses, shops and temples have been almost kept intact. In 1986, the State Council proclaimed Pingyao as a historical and cultural site. Also, it was listed to the UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997.

Top 10Bashang Grasslands, Hebei

The climate and location at the junction of the North China Plains and the Inner Mongolia Grasslands give Bashang its unique natural landscapes and make it a popular destination for tourists and photographers. Mulan Weichang in Weichang Bashang, 450 kilometers northeast of Beijing, is perhaps the most beautiful part. Travelers can ride horses, camp, watch local wrestling competitions, or stay in Mongolian yurts.
