100 African youths visit Chinese university

One hundred African youths visited Guangxi University in Nanning, capital of south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, and had a get-together with students on Saturday.

　　The delegation was invited by All China Youth Federation (ACYF) on an eight-day visit to China. Most delegates are African youth leaders, journalists, entrepreneurs and university students.

　　They were informed with the history, curriculum and the students' life of Guangxi University and went on a tour around the campus, with students being their guides.

　　The Chinese students performed in an evening gala for their African guests, staging martial arts, folk dances and songs. They invited the Africans to join in a few games.

　　"The visit enables us to know each other and gives us an idea on the life of Chinese students," said Kadi Salem, a student leader in the University of Boumerdes, Algeria.

　　"There is cultural difference, but all the youths have the same goal, which is to work for the country and make it a better place. In this regard, we have a lot of opinions to share," said Kadi, who is also head of the Algerian delegation.

　　The delegation started their tour on Tuesday to three Chinese cities, namely Beijing, Nanning and Guangzhou. They visited local communities, the countryside, universities and companies.

　　In 2008 and 2009, another 400 African youths will be invited to China as part of the government efforts to enhance understanding and promote friendship between young people in China and Africa.
